Stryker Canada was incorporated in 1990 with the responsibility
of providing products and services that add value to the efforts of medical
professionals and aid in the delivery of quality health care to Canadians.
With headquarters in Hamilton, Ontario, Stryker Canada is made up
of an energetic and committed team of employees who support customers across
the country. A nation-wide network of clinically focused sales professionals is
dedicated to serving surgical specialists and a wide range of patient care
providers.
Dr. Homer Stryker began his medical practice in Kalamazoo,
Michigan in 1928. His desire to provide improved patient care led him to
develop a number of products including the Stryker Turning Frame, stretchers
and power equipment for orthopaedics. Dr. Stryker insisted that each product
improve the efficiency of the caregiver or reduce the cost of providing
treatment, a philosophy that still drives Stryker today.
Growing acceptance of Dr. Stryker's products created the need to
develop manufacturing facilities, and a continuing stream of innovation for
health care professionals followed. In 1964 Dr. Stryker formalized his company
into Stryker Corporation with headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Public
trading in Stryker Corporation began in 1977 on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. On
July 1, 1997, the company moved to the New York Stock Exchange where its common
stock is currently traded under the symbol SYK.
