Meeting Policy
This Stryker Canada policy applies to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) interacting with Stryker Canada for Stryker Canada produced and managed Product and Procedural Focus Training Courses.

Questions regarding any aspect of this policy may be directed to the Medical Education Manager.

Stryker Canada is guided by the MEDEC Code of Conduct and our internal compliance policy . Stryker has a responsibility to educate and train Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) in the use of our products. When we produce a training course for HCPs, the program must be held in a facility conducive to training and must be conducted by qualified persons. Stryker may pay reasonable travel expenses and accommodation costs for HCPs to attend these training courses. We may also provide modest meals and receptions for attendees as long as they are subordinate in time and focus to the purpose of the meeting.

Please note that Product and Procedural Focus Training Courses are not accredited. You may submit the number of hours of participation to the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, Maintenance of Certification Program, CPD Activities, Section 4.

Registration

An attendee must register on-line and receive a confirmation at the conclusion of registration to be accepted to attend the course. Air, Train, Hotel preferences must be provided to Stryker Canada at the time of registration and no later than two weeks prior to the meeting. All travel and accommodation arrangements must be made through Stryker’s Medical Education Department no later than two weeks prior to the meeting.

Not all Stryker Canada courses are open to Fellows, Residents, and Nurses. The registration website will indicate who is being accepted.

Air Travel

When required, HCPs travelling in Canada for a training course, will receive one round-trip economy-class air travel ticket for the course dates only. Tickets will be prepaid by Stryker and must be booked through Stryker Canada’s Medical Education travel provider. Where schedules warrant, train may be allowed as an alternative to air travel.

The prepaid ticket will be provided only for travel to and from the course and cannot include additional legs for non-Stryker related travel. In the case of personal travel adjoining a course, the HCP is responsible for making the arrangements and paying for additional fees.

Tickets must be booked no later than two weeks prior to the course dates or their registration will be cancelled.

Hotel

For Stryker Canada Product and Procedural Focus Training Courses, HCPs will be provided with one hotel room (if required), at Stryker Canada’s contracted hotel, for the night prior to the course. Additional room nights must be paid by the HCP.

Stryker Canada will arrange and prepay the hotel room rate and tax if the following conditions are met:
  • The location of the course and hotel is a significant distance from the HCP’s work/home location; the HCP must stay out of necessity rather than convenience;
  • The program begins before 10:00am;
  • The program lasts at least six hours; and
  • The program ends after 4:00pm
In circumstances when commercial air/train travel is unavailable in order for the HCP to return home prior to 11:00pm on the final day of the course, one hotel room will be allowed for this night.

Stryker pays only hotel room and tax charges. HCPs must provide a credit card to hotel management upon check-in to charge incidentals. Hotel requirements must be provided to Stryker Canada’s Medical Education department at time of registration and no later than two weeks prior to the course dates.

Meals

HCPs will be provided with modest meals/receptions commensurate with the course agenda. All participants at a Stryker meal/reception must be a registered attendee.

HCPs are responsible for meal charges outside of group meal functions.

Ground Transportation

Stryker Canada may provide for round-trip ground travel between the local airport and the course location for those HCPs who require air/train travel. The course website will advise if Stryker is paying for ground transportation. If so, transfers will be prepaid by Stryker and must be booked through Medical Education. Any costs incurred for the HCP to travel from their home to the airport or hotel/training venue is the HCP’s expense.

Entertainment and Personal Activities

Stryker Canada cannot provide entertainment or recreational events to HCPs in conjunction with our Training.
